Post 227 recently contributed 6 JOSH Puppies to children at the North Shore Children's Hospital.  The JOSH Puppy project is endorsed by the Department of Massachusett's Children & Youth program.  The toy dogs come with their own dog house and story book that explains, in a languare children can relate to, what being in the hospital is all about.  The dogs are intended for seriously ill children or those facing major surgery and the children can take their new "buddy" home with them when they leave the hospital.

Joining in Post 227's presentation of the JOSH puppies on Friday, July 29th, were our Adjutant, Ted Butler, and Service Officer, Dan Mahoney.  Ted and Dan along with Denise Flynn of the North Shore Children's Hospital Foundation, personaly handed out the JOSH puppies to two patients.  The remainder will be distributed to other children by the hospital when needed.

The American Legion, Department of Massachusetts's goal is to distribute 1000 JOSH puppies this year with the help and support of local American Legion posts.
Adjutant Ted Butler, North Shore Children's Hospital Foundation's Denise Flynn, and Service Officer, Dan Mahoney with "JOSH".
Two patients at North Shore Children's Hospital meet their new friend, JOSH, as Post 227 representatives, Ted Butler & Harold (Dan) Mahoney look on.
